Why does my ex boyfriend still call me every day?

He makes a point in contacting me every single day. If I don't answer, he will either text or email me. And every night around the time that I go to bed, I either get a call, text or email from him saying good night. EVERY SINGLE DAY! I don't get it! Isn't the point in breaking up with someone to get away from them? Not contact them every day?? Also, he still calls me baby and still says "mwah!" before he hangs up and puts it at the end of his texts/emails.
