Have a stereo receiver now how do i hook the sub up?

I have a stereo receiver which does not have a sub out nor is it LFE so how do i hook my self powered sub woofer up to m receiver? my sub has red/white port and the speaker wire ports but that's it, should i get some sub woofer speaker wire and wire it up to my receiver or what type of RCA cord do i need? i have the cheap polk audio psw10 subwoofer btw if that helps
